Cock of the Walk

The gallo or cock is the symbol of Murano
The winged lion might be king in Venice, but on the islands of Murano it is the cock which rules the roost.

The cock or gallo represents vigilance and since the beginning of the sixteenth century, it has often been depicted with a serpent (prudence) in its beak and a fox (cunning) on its back.
